How to Play Paint Splash Online

Paint Splash is a creative and satisfying casual game where your goal is to cover a white canvas with colorful paint. You launch paint balls from the bottom of the screen in arcing trajectories, and each ball splashes on impact, covering a cluster of cells with vibrant color. The challenge lies in reaching the required coverage percentage for each level while using as few shots as possible. With 10 progressively harder levels that introduce obstacles and tighter coverage targets, Paint Splash offers a relaxing yet strategic experience for players of all ages.

Controls

The game uses a two-click launch system. First, click or tap anywhere to set your launch angle. A rotating aim indicator shows the current angle from the launch position at the bottom center of the canvas. Once you see the angle you want, click or tap again to fire the paint ball. The ball launches with a fixed power along the set angle, follows a realistic parabolic arc influenced by gravity, and splashes paint when it lands on the canvas grid. On desktop, you can also press the spacebar to fire. On mobile, the same tap-to-aim, tap-to-fire mechanic works smoothly.

Gameplay Mechanics

The playing field is a 20x20 grid of cells, all starting white. Each paint ball that lands covers approximately a 3x3 area of cells with the current paint color. Colors cycle automatically between shots, creating a visually appealing multicolored canvas. The coverage percentage is displayed in real time, showing what fraction of the paintable cells you have colored. Each level has a target percentage (starting at 50% and increasing to 85% by level 10). Once you reach the target, the level is complete.

Starting from level 4, grey obstacle blocks appear on the canvas. These obstacles cannot be painted and block paint splashes from spreading through them. You must aim around obstacles to reach uncovered areas. Obstacles create strategic challenges that require careful angle planning. Your score for each level is calculated based on the coverage percentage achieved minus a penalty for each shot used, rewarding efficient painters who reach the target with fewer launches.

Tips and Strategy

  • Aim for the center of uncovered areas rather than edges. The splash radius covers more new cells when landing in the middle of white space.
  • Use shallow angles (near horizontal) to send paint balls to the far sides of the canvas, and steep angles for areas directly above the launch point.
  • Plan your shots to minimize overlap. Each overlapping cell is a wasted portion of your splash radius.
  • In levels with obstacles, try to land paint balls just behind the obstacles where splash can still spread into covered areas.
  • The coverage requirement increases with each level, so save your most precise aiming for the later, harder stages.
  • Fewer shots mean a higher score. Try to clear each level with the minimum number of launches for the best rating.
