How to Play Gravity Puzzle Online

Gravity Puzzle is an innovative brain-teasing game that challenges you to think about movement in an entirely different way. Instead of directly controlling a character, you control the direction of gravity itself. A ball sits on the game grid, affected by whatever gravitational pull you choose. By pressing directional keys, you change which way gravity pulls, causing the ball to slide across the grid until it hits a wall or obstacle. Your goal is to navigate the ball through increasingly complex levels to reach the exit portal, all while avoiding deadly spikes and making use of switches that open blocked pathways.

Controls

The game is controlled entirely through directional input. On desktop computers, use the arrow keys or WASD keys to change the direction of gravity. Pressing Up or W makes gravity pull the ball upward, causing it to slide to the top of the grid until it hits a wall. Pressing Down or S pulls the ball downward. Left (A) and Right (D) pull the ball in their respective horizontal directions. Each directional input counts as one move, tracked by the move counter.

On mobile devices, use the on-screen directional buttons displayed below the game canvas. Tap the arrow pointing in the direction you want gravity to pull. The controls are responsive and designed for touch input, making it easy to play on phones and tablets. There is no time pressure, so you can take as long as you need to plan each move carefully.

Grid Elements

The game grid contains several types of elements that you will encounter across the levels. Understanding each element is key to solving the puzzles efficiently. Empty spaces are where the ball can travel freely. Wall blocks are solid gray tiles that stop the ball's movement. The ball slides in the direction of gravity until it reaches a wall block or the edge of the grid. Red spike tiles are deadly hazards. If the ball lands on a spike tile, the level resets and you must start over. Spikes require careful route planning to avoid.

Blue switch tiles are interactive elements that toggle corresponding blue door tiles when the ball passes over them. When a switch is activated, all blue doors on the level change state, opening if they were closed or closing if they were open. This adds a layer of complexity as you must consider the order of your moves to manipulate doors correctly. The green portal tile is your goal. Reach it to complete the level and advance to the next one.

Level Design

The game features ten handcrafted levels that progressively introduce new mechanics and increase in difficulty. The first few levels are relatively simple, teaching you the basic concept of sliding gravity. As you advance, levels introduce spikes that restrict your path, switches and doors that require specific sequences to navigate, and tight corridors where precise gravity changes are essential. Each level has a par number of moves, representing an optimal or near-optimal solution. Beating par is a satisfying extra challenge for puzzle enthusiasts who want to find the most efficient path.

Strategy and Tips

  • Before making any move, study the entire level layout. Identify where the spikes are, where the portal is, and trace possible paths in your mind.
  • Remember that the ball slides all the way to a wall. You cannot stop it midway. Plan your moves around this constraint.
  • Use walls strategically. Sometimes you need to bounce off walls in specific positions to set up the correct angle for the next move.
  • Pay close attention to switches and doors. Activate switches in the right order to ensure doors are open when you need them.
  • If you get stuck, try working backward from the portal. Figure out which position the ball needs to be in right before reaching the portal, then work backward from there.
  • The reset button is your friend. Do not hesitate to restart a level if you realize you have made an irreversible mistake.

Challenge Yourself

Beyond simply completing each level, Gravity Puzzle offers additional challenges for dedicated players. Try to complete every level at or below par to prove your mastery of the mechanics. The move counter encourages you to find efficient solutions, and replaying levels to reduce your move count adds significant replay value. Share your best scores with friends and challenge them to do better. The game's elegant design means that even a single unnecessary move can feel like a puzzle worth solving.
