The AI difficulty scales with your performance. If you build a large lead, the trailing AI karts receive a slight speed boost to keep the race competitive. Laps and Winning
Each race consists of three laps around the track. Your current lap is displayed in the HUD along with your position among all four racers. To complete a lap, you must cross the start/finish line while traveling in the correct direction around the track. The lap counter increments each time you cross the line, and crossing in the wrong direction does not count. Upon completing three laps, the race ends and your finishing position and total time are displayed. Your best time is saved locally for future reference.
Tips for Faster Lap Times
- Brake before entering a corner, not during it. Entering a turn at the right speed lets you maintain control and accelerate out of the exit smoothly.
- Follow the racing line: approach corners from the outside, cut to the inside at the apex, and exit wide. This minimizes the distance traveled through each turn.
- Avoid the grass at all costs. Even a brief trip off-track costs more time than slowing down to stay on the road.
- Use gentle steering inputs at high speed. Small adjustments keep you on track without losing momentum.
